Early Ford Bronco: First Generation (1965 – 1977)

The early Ford Bronco started it all in 1965, and this off-road vehicle was designed with a completely unique chassis for its time. While it would be classified as a compact SUV in modern times, the early Ford Bronco was a supersized option for adventures with its 92-inch wheelbase and 105-hp inline-6 engine. Drivers loved the utilitarian and practical design that was built for rugged outdoor performance,

Classic Ford Bronco: Second to Fifth Generation (1978 – 1996)

  • Second Generation (1978 – 1980): The redesigned classic Ford Bronco drew inspiration from the Ford F-Series. Its new chassis had a wheelbase extension of 12 inches, and it was only offered as a three-door wagon.
  • Third Generation (1980 – 1986): Though still classified as a full-size SUV, the third generation became smaller and lighter than Bronco models of the past to keep up with the downsizing trend.
  • Ford Bronco II (1983 – 1990): This marked the beginning of a new compact SUV line, drawing inspiration from both the classic Ford Bronco and Ford Ranger. However, it would eventually be replaced by the Ford Explorer.
  • Fourth Generation (1987 – 1991): Building upon the chassis design of the third generation, the fourth generation upgraded the interior and exterior with refreshed style and convenience elements. Plus, this generation introduced the Silver Anniversary Edition – the first Bronco with leather seats.
  • Fifth Generation (1992 – 1996): The most recognizable as the classic Ford Bronco, this model maintained the iconic design established over previous generations, along with a few new interior features here and there.

Current Model: 2021 Ford Bronco

Now in its sixth generation, the current 2021 Ford Bronco is a mid-size SUV with a classic body-on-frame construction to optimize off-road performance. The independent suspension and 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost® inline-four engine combine for serious capabilities on- and off-road on Guam, and you can enjoy that open-air trailing experience by removing the side doors. Looking for a more compact option? The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport has the same outstanding performance with a smaller footprint.
