What is Honda Sensing?
According to a published review on the Honda Sensing system, CNET states that Honda Sensing has “now been fitted to 1 million vehicles.” Because this system is becoming a staple of the Honda lineup, you may have some questions about this state-of-the-art feature. “What is Honda Sensing?” How can this amenity take your Guam commute to the next level? The popular Honda Sensing feature is a safety suite that, for many new Honda drivers, comes standard. While it is not a replacement for safe driving habits, it can give you added peace of mind when you hit the roads of Palau. Triple J Guam has all of the details.
What’s Included in the Honda Sensing Package?
The goal of Honda Sensing is to help drivers become more aware of their surroundings so the likelihood of a collision is minimized. Here is how the systems achieve this:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS): If the system determines that a frontal collision is likely, it will help the vehicle brake safely.
- Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM): A small camera can detect road markings. If the system notices that you are veering from your intended path, you will be alerted.
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): This feature helps you maintain a preset following distance.
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS): If you begin to drift from your lane, LKAS will guide you back into the center of your lane.
- Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR): This feature helps keep you aware of speed limit signs.
Can You Turn Off Honda Sensing?
While you may be interested in the benefits of Honda Sensing, you may not always want to use the system. That’s ok! It is possible to turn off these features. If you want to turn off RDM, you can press a button under ECON. LKS can be turned off by pushing the MAIN button on the steering wheel until the indicators in the instrument cluster are gone.
With the optional central touchscreen, you have the ability to set your Honda Sensing preferences. All you have to do is press “Settings,” “Vehicle Settings,” and then “Drive Assist Setup.” This allows you to change RDM warnings, distance warnings for CMBS, and more.
If you are still a bit unsure of the steps for turning off Honda Sensing, don’t worry. You can always contact the experts at our service center, or set up an appointment.
