Triple J Raises Over $400,000 for Guam Cancer Care

Guam Cancer Care

Guam Cancer Care — officially known as the Cancer Care Assistance Foundation — is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps local cancer patients face the many challenges of the disease with direct support. The services of this essential organization include a robust cancer screening program, a cancer support group to help support the psychological needs of cancer sufferers, a financial assistance program for individuals in need, a patient transport program, and public outreach and education initiatives.

Cancer Care Center

As the premier cancer care support organization on Guam, Guam Cancer Care offers both insured and uninsured residents access to comprehensive screening programs that analyze the risk of cancer and provides an assessment designed to help individuals avoid the disease. Other important services offered by the center include a support group that puts cancer patients and their caregivers in an open forum designed to share feelings, information, and knowledge — all of which can help individuals to deal with the stress of the illness. Additionally, the organization provides a patient transport program that can help to facilitate transportation to healthcare providers.

Financial Assistance for Cancer Patients

Guam residents who need financial assistance to combat cancer can turn to Guam Cancer Care for financial aid. The organization’s financial assistance program utilities trained navigators that can help cancer patients determine the best sources of financial assistance for their unique sets of circumstances. This effort is funded by the Guam Cancer Trust Fund, a financial asset that helps navigators to identify the eligibility and funding required based on copayments, coinsurance, and out of pocket expenses that can be incurred as a result of ongoing cancer treatment.
